"Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally occurring compound found in the resinous flowers of cannabis and hemp, a plant with a rich history as a medicine going back thousands of years. Today the therapeutic properties of CBD are being tested and confirmed by scientists and doctors around the world. A safe, non-addictive substance, CBD is one of more than a hundred “phytocannabinoids,” which are unique to hemp family and endow the plants with their robust therapeutic profile. How does CBD work?
In order to understand how CBD works, it's important to know about the endocannabinoid system (ECS for short). Every single one of us has an ECS in us right now playing an important role in maintaining balance in our body also know as homeostasis. The ECS is made up of cannabinoid receptors and endocannabinoids (Cannabinoids that occur naturally in our bodies) throughout the body. Our body produces endocannabinoids that act as neuromodulators which helps regulate every physiological system. Sometimes due to our diet or other reasons our body doesn't produce and receive endocannabinoids very well and cause various health and mental health problems. CBD is able to fit into some of these receptors like a key in a lock which helps make up for the imbalance, relieving health problems.
The differences between hemp and marijuana.
All of our oils and products are hemp derived; hemp and marijuana are in the same plant family but have one defining difference. Marijuana contains a high amount of THC (The cannabinoid that gets you 'high'), on the other hand wild hemp contains less than 1% THC(Legal hemp contains less than .3%) which wont get you high. Hemp has a much higher concentration of CBD than marijuana though, making it an excellent source for extraction. CBD is non-psychoactive meaning no matter how much you take you will not get high.
